Elvis and I have the same birthday. To this day, I am convinced my mother timed my birth with the birth of her favorite singer. In addition to sharing the same day, we were born 40 years apart from each other. Due to our shared birthday and my mother’s affection for him, I have watched many of his movies. I will stop and listen to his songs. I actually love his gospel. Yes I am aware of the politics surrounding his fame and the anger of many people. However, because I have so many childhood memories about him, I can’t help but still have some lingering positive emotions for him.
So Elvis, if you are still alive, Happy Birthday!
